A sedge with shiny green pendulant leaves up to one metre long. Handsome rusty-brown flower heads are borne on long stems above the leaf clump in summer. Leaves reach best size when grown in a shaded damp place. Often seen on cliffs where there is constant water seepage. Attractive alongside pools.
